Teams at Grand River Navigation Company, Inc.

Perform general deck maintenance, assist with mooring, cargo and watchstanding duties, operate and maintain deck equipment, conduct inspections, participate in emergency drills, and support vessel operations under supervision.

Operate and maintain onboard cargo conveyor systems on self-unloading Great Lakes vessels. Monitor equipment during cargo operations, perform inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs. Report issues, maintain safe cargo and deck areas, assist with mooring and deck operations, support emergency response, keep maintenance logs, and participate in seasonal vessel maintenance and fit-out activities.

Stand watch as an engineering officer, perform preventative maintenance tasks, and maintain shipboard engine and deck equipment (air compressors, pumps, winches, sewage/OWS). Complete assignments from the Chief Engineer and support safe, efficient vessel operations.
