Teams at Grand River Navigation Company, Inc.

Stand watch as an engineering officer, perform preventative maintenance tasks, and maintain shipboard engine and deck equipment (air compressors, pumps, winches, sewage/OWS). Complete assignments from the Chief Engineer and support safe, efficient vessel operations.

Operate as a licensed Third Mate aboard US-flag self-unloading Great Lakes vessels: stand navigation watches, supervise deck maintenance and cargo operations, ensure lifesaving/firefighting equipment readiness, direct deck department and supplies, and perform duties assigned by the Vessel Master.

Serve as 1st Assistant Engineer aboard US-flag self-unloading vessels: safely stand engineering watch, perform preventative maintenance, and maintain engine and deck equipment (air compressors, winches, sewage units, ballast and potable water pumps, OWS). Complete tasks assigned by the Chief Engineer and follow safety and teamwork standards.
