Coordinates utilization review for inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient behavioral health services. Obtains initial, concurrent, and retrospective insurance authorizations; monitors authorization progress; identifies coverage issues; and helps patients access eligible benefits. The role works with insurers and managed care systems and requires knowledge of acute psychiatric care criteria, medical terminology, billing practices, and crisis management techniques.

Coordinates behavioral-health patient transitions from inpatient treatment to PHP/IOP services. The role advocates for step-down placements, meets with patients and guardians, manages outpatient referrals, completes follow-up and documentation, supports utilization review and discharge planning, attends treatment and daily business-development meetings, and provides front-facing service. It requires calm, tactful communication, relationship building, sales-strategy planning, and knowledge of mental-health regulations and crisis procedures.
