Mechanical Design Engineering Intern assisting project engineers with fabrication drawings, installation layouts, mechanical equipment design, drawing reviews, and field measurements. The role involves applying engineering standards, codes, and safety regulations while collaborating with sales, project management, fabrication, safety, and installation teams. Interns may also support equipment installation, startup, troubleshooting, and process improvements.

Designs and details custom mechanical equipment and systems from concept through installation. Creates fabrication drawings and installation layouts, incorporates applicable standards and safety codes, coordinates with electrical and controls teams, vendors, subcontractors, fabrication, and installation departments, and checks drawing accuracy. Supports field measurements, equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and debugging. Travel to jobsites may comprise 20–30% of the role.

Manage and execute customer and project documentation: coordinate requirements with engineers, PMs, and sales; maintain customer specifications; train staff; coordinate subcontracted documentation; and assist with mechanical CAD design and detailing using Autodesk tools.
