Supports young children with special needs in an early learning classroom by implementing individualized academic and behavioral strategies aligned with IEP goals. Assists with personal care, meals, and daily activities; tracks student progress; maintains records; communicates with families and service providers; supports a safe, inclusive classroom; collaborates with teachers; and participates in professional development.

Provides targeted literacy intervention through individual and small-group instruction, analyzes student reading data, monitors progress, and adjusts instructional plans. The specialist supports teachers through evidence-based literacy resources, professional development, coaching, and assessment coordination. Responsibilities also include school-wide literacy planning, parent communication, reading incentive programs, and collaboration with administrators and classroom teachers to improve student achievement.
