Maintains zoo landscaping, gardens, exhibits, plant collections, pathways, and grounds through planting, pruning, watering, fertilizing, pest control, soil preparation, irrigation maintenance, and debris removal. Operates horticultural equipment and vehicles safely, assists with facility and grounds maintenance, identifies plant-care needs, and works outdoors around animals, visitors, staff, chemicals, machinery, and variable weather. Occasional local and out-of-town travel, overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.

Maintains, installs, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs commercial irrigation systems across zoo landscaping and grounds. Responsibilities include irrigation audits, leak and pressure repairs, blueprint interpretation, system expansion, parts inventory, emergency response, equipment operation, landscaping support, general grounds maintenance, and safe vehicle operation. The role works primarily outdoors near animals and requires occasional travel, overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Sets up and breaks down zoo events, including tables, chairs, lighting, and equipment. Assists with exhibitions, birthday parties, guest services, vendor logistics, equipment inventory, and storage organization. The role requires safe lifting, troubleshooting, possible operation of forklifts and lifts, vehicle operation, and excellent communication. Work occurs indoors and outdoors, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional out-of-town travel.
