Build and own backend features for a distributed, event-driven ground control system supporting drone delivery. Responsibilities include mission state machines, route planning, airspace deconfliction, fleet operations tooling, testing, production troubleshooting, and safe rollouts. The role requires strong computer science fundamentals, especially concurrency, state management, and failure handling, plus ownership and comfort with ambiguity. Robotics, aviation, simulation, or physical systems experience is a bonus.

Lead architecture and hands-on development of Flytrex’s distributed, safety-critical Ground Control Station. Scale real-time flight operations, guide complex projects from concept through production, improve engineering standards and testing, troubleshoot critical incidents, and collaborate with product, operations, hardware, and regulatory teams.

Owns drone delivery site launches from approval through stable operations across DFW and other metros. Builds and manages critical paths covering electrical infrastructure, utilities, permits, inspections, flight operations, maintenance, networking, and partner readiness. Directly scopes power systems, manages electricians and vendors, resolves field blockers, and ensures sites are energized and operational by launch dates. The role requires substantial field work, driving, physical labor, outdoor work, and occasional early morning or weekend support.
