Teams at First Student

Maintains and repairs a fleet of school buses, performing preventive and corrective maintenance on engines, brakes, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Conducts safety inspections, road tests, service calls, defect repairs, and completes precise work orders and technical reports. The role requires heavy-vehicle expertise, sound judgment, reliability, flexibility, and teamwork.

Assist the bus driver to ensure safe student transport: help students board/exit, support children with special needs, enforce safety rules, communicate with driver, and provide care and encouragement.

Supports NJ TRANSIT Access Link ADA paratransit eligibility by interviewing applicants, assessing barriers to fixed-route transportation, researching accessible transit options, applying eligibility criteria, documenting findings, and conducting quality reviews. Requires extensive travel throughout New Jersey, a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, strong interviewing and documentation skills, computer proficiency, and objective decision-making when working with applicants and accessibility teams.
