A resale platform for ultra-luxury accessories, FASHIONPHILE is powered by savvy, sustainability-focused individuals who understand the importance of defining one’s brand. Becoming the world’s most sought-after brand in luxury re-commerce is an ambitious mission, but employees believe the company’s culture of compassion and community brings them closer to achieving it every day. “We’re passionate about building empathy, having fun and taking initiative,” said Karina Chahal, product manager. “Because we have such strong camaraderie, it makes the work less stressful. We urge everyone to take care of themselves, and to take time off when needed. In this way, we all help to strengthen our own work-life balance.”

Cultivate your career at a fast-growing company
Director of Engineering Dano Gillette dropped out of college after one semester, soon breaking into sales while honing his coding skills. Upon first joining FASHIONPHILE as a senior engineer, he saw opportunities for growth. “Leadership really gave me the space to use my talents to improve our systems,” he said. “They place trust in their engineers. We were able to build systems that enabled our rapid growth while simultaneously allowing me to grow.” Now directing four engineering teams, Gillette’s “primary responsibility is the growth and success of our engineers,” he said.

Karina Chahal
Product Manager - Seller
As a product manager optimizing the seller experience, Karina Chahal feels empowered by a culture of open, direct communication to share her ideas and think outside the box. Though her team leverages React and PHP to find solutions to pressing tech problems, it’s the collective creativity displayed by engineers, designers, data analysts and client service associates that enables their success in implementing major updates. “Some of the features that we’ve been able to ship have come from ideas that started with the common ‘This might be crazy, but what if we…,’” she said.
I’ve thrived here because I’ve been so supported by my team and leadership to act on my ideas, interests and career goals.
Stretch your skills in a supportive environment
Director of Data Science and Analytics Nigel Lo sees the big picture of FASHIONPHILE’s future, but his strategy for holistic growth begins at an individual level. “My goal is for every team member to become a trusted and respected advisor of the business,” he said. Accuracy, consistency and simplicity are all principles Lo preaches to his team. But he believes open discussion and constructive criticism are the real keys to a healthy company culture. “I do my best to maintain an environment where people can share their thoughts, offer suggestions and even disagree without fear,” he said.
