Extendicare Benefits Overview

Assists with meal preparation and food service for long-term care residents. Responsibilities include serving meals according to diets and preferences, preparing basic foods, recording temperatures, cleaning kitchen areas and equipment, storing and labeling supplies, stocking kitchenettes, assembling nourishment carts, and following food safety, infection control, and workplace safety procedures.

Provides personal support and home care to residents or patients, following nursing care plans, job routines, legislation, and documentation requirements. Supports individuals with dementia and palliative care needs, communicates with families and care teams, and works independently in community home care. A completed PSW or HCA/CCA program, valid Vulnerable Sector Check, English communication skills, and reliable transportation are required.

Coordinates staffing schedules and attendance for a long-term care facility, fills vacant shifts, validates hours for payroll, and supports leave administration. Provides resident admission and administrative support, orders nursing supplies, investigates health and safety incidents, coordinates committee meetings, and tracks corrective actions. Requires strong organization, communication, data accuracy, software proficiency, and knowledge of HR, payroll, scheduling, collective agreements, and occupational health and safety practices.
