Performs hospital billing and revenue cycle activities, including billing procedures according to client contracts, updating statements, mailing paper and secondary claims, scanning documents into patient accounts, reviewing correspondence, and following up as needed. Ensures work meets regulatory compliance requirements and organizational goals. The role is remote within the United States but may require onsite work at client, temporary, or corporate locations.

Interviews uninsured and under-insured hospital patients to assess Medicaid and financial assistance eligibility. Coordinates applications, collects supporting documentation, tracks determinations, updates insurance information, and ensures timely billing or adjustment processing. Maintains accurate records in patient accounting systems, stays current on state and federal program requirements, and collaborates with Medicaid caseworkers and revenue cycle teams.

Researches patient accounts to identify and recover insurance underpayments. Communicates with payors, files appeals, resolves account variances, identifies root causes of denials and delayed payments, documents activities, follows regulations, and recommends process improvements. The role requires independent problem-solving, multitasking across client teams, productivity and quality performance, and occasional onsite travel despite being remote.
