Staff Engineer responsible for shaping and implementing EatClub’s payments platform across Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. The role leads complex payment architecture, ledger, settlement, reconciliation, reliability, compliance, incident response, and partner integrations while remaining hands-on in production code. It requires deep card payments expertise, strong backend engineering, technical leadership, mentoring, and communication with executives, banks, acquirers, schemes, and auditors. This is an individual-contributor technical leadership role, not a people-management position.

Owns and improves EatClub’s end-to-end payment, billing, settlement, invoicing, collections, and reconciliation systems across Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. Responsibilities include integrating payment partners, improving payment reliability and observability, automating manual Finance processes, ensuring ledger accuracy, debugging production issues, testing financial logic, reviewing code, and mentoring engineers. The role partners closely with Finance and Support and requires strong backend engineering experience in production payments or billing systems.

Manage a portfolio of restaurant partners across Perth, building relationships, monitoring performance dashboards, reducing churn, onboarding and activating venues, and identifying upsell and growth opportunities. The role combines field visits with data analysis, commercial planning, partner consultations, and collaboration on campaigns, reporting, and account-management processes. Success is measured by partner retention, performance, revenue growth, and territory expansion.
