Serve as the clinical microbiology technical authority for a national VA public health program. Provide expert consultation on molecular and automated microbiology testing, perform method validations, ensure compliance with accreditation and policy, troubleshoot complex tests and instrumentation, author SOPs, and collaborate with clinicians, epidemiologists, laboratorians, and communicators to support outbreak response and patient care. Onsite in Northern California, with occasional regional travel.

Lead investigational communications for a VA public health program: develop communication plans, manage media relations, write/edit materials across print and digital formats, draft briefing materials and talking points, and produce reports and presentations. Tailor high-stakes messaging for diverse audiences and collaborate with clinicians, epidemiologists, lab scientists, and data analysts to support outbreak response and patient notification efforts.

Support public health investigations for a VA program: manage and evaluate procedures, perform electronic and paper medical chart reviews, conduct staff interviews, document findings, and assist epidemiologists and attorneys in outbreak and patient-safety reviews.
