Own and deliver substantial connectivity features across drivers, protocols, client libraries, connectors, and distributed services. Design scalable systems, diagnose complex client/server and production failures, maintain compatibility and reliability, and build comprehensive testing and observability. Collaborate across Product, QA, Support, SRE, and partner teams; mentor engineers; influence technical direction; and contribute to open-source projects. The role requires deep systems programming expertise and experience with APIs, networking, concurrency, asynchronous programming, and production software delivery.

Build, test, debug, and maintain query execution engine components in Java, including query operators, expression evaluation, scheduling, memory management, and resource management. Investigate correctness, reliability, and performance issues using logs, telemetry, benchmarks, and query profiles. Collaborate with senior engineers, write unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and develop expertise in vectorized processing, concurrency, parallelism, data exchange, and disk spilling.

Design and improve Dremio’s distributed query execution engine, including query operators, expression evaluation, scheduling, memory management, runtime planning, and performance optimization. Diagnose correctness and scalability issues using profiling, telemetry, benchmarks, and production data. Optimize Java and JVM behavior, collaborate across engineering teams, validate AI-assisted implementations, contribute to technical direction, review code, and mentor engineers.
