Designs, programs, tests, troubleshoots, and improves automated packaging machinery and integrated controls systems. Maintains PLC, robot, and auxiliary-device program libraries; develops hardware and software designs; supports factory checkout, service teams, and customer field issues. Owns a commercialized product line’s controls codebase, supervises subcontractor vendors, creates technical documentation, and ensures machinery safety compliance. The role includes customer-site support and approximately 15% travel.

Sets up and operates CNC mills, lathes, 5-axis mills, and manual machines to produce precision parts. Reads technical prints, programs using CAM, conversational controls, or G-code, troubleshoots machining issues, recommends tooling improvements, performs routine maintenance, and maintains quality and production standards. The role also supports material handling, inventory, machine assembly, process improvement, and training other machinists in a machine shop environment.

Designs and develops new packaging machinery, including concepts, layouts, assemblies, components, drawings, BOMs, and prototypes. Leads technical development projects from order entry through field testing, coordinating schedules, validation, customers, manufacturing, and sales. Designs custom machine components, resolves technical and safety issues, performs design reviews, and ensures compliance with applicable standards. Mentors engineers, improves development processes, and serves as a machinery automation subject matter expert.
