Performs basic design and modeling, data research, engineering calculations, technical analysis, reporting, plan and specification preparation, and construction management support. Collaborates with project engineers, meets deadlines, reports project progress, and helps ensure quality deliverables. The role requires occasional outdoor work and completion of job-related education and training.

Performs foundational engineering work for roadway, utility, sewer, bridge, structural, water resources, and civil projects. Supports design, schematics, modeling, engineering calculations, plans, specifications, estimates, technical reports, and construction management. Works under close supervision with project teams, reviews assignments, meets deadlines, and may work in field environments involving construction hazards and varying weather. Travel is required.

Supports financial management of capital projects by processing and validating invoices, tracking funding and costs, preparing loan disbursement and requisition packages, coordinating funding and contract compliance, and supporting monthly reviews, reporting, and project closeout activities.

Perform mid-level project management and electrical design for roadway lighting, ITS, toll facilities, EV charging, and traffic signals. Prepare plans, calculations, estimates, QA/QC reviews, scope and fee proposals, coordinate with utilities, support construction, and mentor junior staff while ensuring adherence to CDOT/IDOT/Illinois Tollway standards.
