Operates and maintains the vessel’s main engine, boiler, fuel and lube oil purification systems, compressed air machinery, feed water controls, heat exchangers, and domestic services. The role follows Class and Standing Orders, participates in rotating 24-hour engine watch duties, and performs maintenance safely aboard MV Whyalla on a six-weeks-on, six-weeks-off roster.

Manage crewing operations for shipboard personnel, including crew coordinator supervision, vessel staffing, crew change and rotation planning, officer and seafarer recruitment, training compliance, and personnel record maintenance. The role requires maritime industry knowledge, experience working in a unionized environment, strong organizational and planning skills, team motivation, adaptability, and effective interpersonal and customer service abilities.

First Engineer responsible for daily engine-room operations, maintenance, repairs, task delegation, procedure improvement, spare-parts tracking, and training junior engineers and cadets. The role supports the Chief Engineer aboard a cement carrier operating on a six-weeks-on, six-weeks-off roster in the Bass Strait. Applicants require an AMSA Engineer Class 2 Unlimited certificate, at least three years of engine-watchkeeping sea time, an MSIC, and Australian work rights.
