Supports the City Communications Department by implementing communication plans, drafting press releases and messaging, creating newsletter, social media, and web content, researching audiences, coordinating engagement activities, tracking media coverage, and evaluating campaign results. The internship develops public relations, media relations, public information writing, strategic communication, and community engagement skills through hands-on projects, professional development, and portfolio-building opportunities.

Investigates and manages workers’ compensation, property, casualty, and liability claims for the City. Responsibilities include gathering evidence, coordinating with third-party administrators, attorneys, employees, vendors, and insurers, maintaining claims records, establishing reserves, supporting insurance renewals, managing certificates of insurance, and assisting with safety, loss-control, purchasing, and training activities. The role requires analytical, organizational, communication, claims-adjusting, and risk-management skills.
