Teams at Challenge Charter Schools

Provides targeted K-5 literacy instruction through small-group and individual interventions. Coordinates school-wide literacy programming, assesses student growth, analyzes achievement data, supports classroom teachers, maintains intervention records, communicates with families, and applies research-based science of reading strategies aligned with NYS standards. The role also collaborates on curriculum, professional development, team teaching, and instructional planning for English Language Learners and students with disabilities.

Teaching Assistants support K–5 instruction by preparing lessons, leading guided reading and math interventions, monitoring Tier 2 and Tier 3 scholars, tracking progress, and implementing IEP and behavior goals. They assist with classroom management, attendance, grading, family communication, supervision, and administrative duties. Assistants may lead classes when the teacher is absent and collaborate with teachers, families, and school staff to promote academic growth and a positive school culture.

Teach fifth-grade students with disabilities in an inclusive ICT setting, plan differentiated instruction, assess student growth, use data to guide teaching, collaborate with colleagues and families, support English Language Learners and diverse learners, participate in professional development and school programs, and contribute to a positive, socially supportive school culture.
