Teams at Carter Lumber

Manages daily operations of a professional lumberyard, including inventory, yard activities, store employees, scheduling, hiring, training, and performance management. Oversees inside sales, customer relationships, sales and profit goals, operating costs, safety procedures, and compliance with company policies. Collaborates with market leadership and internal departments, conducts operational meetings, addresses employee issues, and supports ongoing staff development.

Supports outside sales representatives and contractor customers by providing product guidance, preparing estimates and material take-offs, processing orders, coordinating deliveries, monitoring inventory, and maintaining communication. The role requires blueprint reading, construction-material knowledge, customer service, organization, teamwork, and flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.

Assists in-store customers with product information, project advice, estimates, transactions, and customer service. Follows up on online quotes, cold calls prospective customers, qualifies leads, supports outside sales representatives, and conducts inventory cycle counts. Completes training on products, the POS system, and paperwork while working toward sales and profit goals. The role offers salary plus uncapped commission.
