Coordinates patient care on a medical-surgical unit, adjusts staffing and assignments, supports admissions, transfers, and discharges, and provides clinical guidance in the unit leader’s absence. The role serves as a nursing resource, mentors staff, promotes patient safety and quality improvement, facilitates teamwork and conflict resolution, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective care delivery and patient experience.

Manages clinical outcomes and population health initiatives across provider practices in a value-based care network. Reviews performance metrics, patient panels, and clinical data; translates findings into actionable improvements; coaches care teams using PDSA and other process improvement methods; supports evidence-based protocols, provider onboarding, chart audits, quality reviews, remediation tracking, and implementation of network initiatives.

Provide clinical supervision and maintain continuity of patient care when unit nurse managers are absent. Make patient assignments, evaluate and direct nursing care, respond to emergency codes, coordinate resources and supplies, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support quality, regulatory, and staffing activities across hospital units.
