BC Energy Regulator

The BC Energy Regulator (BCER) is British Columbia’s single-window regulatory agency for energy resource activities. Established in 1998, it oversees the full life cycle of these activities—from site planning and exploration through operations and final restoration. BCER protects public safety and the environment, confirms industry compliance, supports reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and low-carbon transition, and helps conserve resources while fostering economic and social well-being.
