Supervises 10 to 40 laboratory technical staff in the General Laboratory and Toxicology section. Oversees workflow, staffing, training, performance management, scheduling, budgets, process improvement, and delivery of high-quality, timely diagnostic testing. Collaborates with laboratory and hospital personnel, pathologists, medical directors, physicians’ offices, vendors, regulators, and educational institutions while maintaining safety and regulatory standards.

Assist technical laboratory staff with specimen collection, receipt, processing, and preparation for testing. May perform waived/moderate complexity testing under supervision, maintain equipment, perform basic QC, inventory support, phlebotomy, and communicate with clinical teams while following regulatory and safety procedures.

Perform and support clinical laboratory testing with advanced technical knowledge, troubleshoot complex problems, ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, JCAHO and OSHA, assist with department accreditation and regulatory requirements, and follow established policies and competency assessments.

Per-diem Medical/Clinical Lab Scientist performs and troubleshoots clinical laboratory testing, ensures compliance with regulatory/accreditation standards, processes specimens, monitors QC and abnormal results, assists with inventory and quality improvement, and provides training and education to staff.

Receive and process pathology specimens, prepare samples for testing, perform waived and moderately complex CLIA '88 tests, assist in histology workflow, train staff, perform QC/QA, and support grossing under supervision.
