Teams at Anderson Hospital

Collects venous and capillary blood, nasal and throat swabs, and processes laboratory specimens for inpatients and outpatients. Performs phlebotomy at rehabilitation facilities and clinics, verifies test orders, enters laboratory tests, maintains collection carts and trays, faxes results, and answers phones. Requires professional interaction with patients and staff, high school education or equivalent, and BLS certification.

Processes and tracks requests for release of medical information while ensuring compliance with privacy laws, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements. Maintains patient records, authorizations, invoices, disclosures, and request metrics. Supports Health Information Management leadership with staff productivity, training, procedure development, accreditation activities, system support, and workload coordination. Protects confidential patient and hospital information and helps maintain accurate, timely release processes.

Performs hospital laboratory testing across hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, microbiology, transfusion services, and serology. Follows established laboratory procedures and demonstrates competency in each testing area. Requires an associate degree in medical technology or equivalent; MLT ASCP certification and at least one year of hospital laboratory experience are preferred.
