Mechanical Engineering Intern will support development of lunar deployment mechanisms, flight hardware, and ground support equipment at NASA Langley Research Center. Responsibilities include creating parametric Creo designs, performing preliminary structural sizing using beam theory and strength of materials, optimizing mass, and producing GD&T drawings and assembly documentation. The intern will communicate design decisions and present requirements, layouts, and plans to engineering and project management teams.

Designs, models, analyzes, documents, manufactures, and tests mechanical components and mechanisms for aerospace and spaceflight hardware. Responsibilities include creating CAD models and engineering drawings, performing sizing and design trade studies, preparing procedures and reports, guiding manufacturing, and supporting assembly, integration, and testing. The role collaborates with engineers, analysts, program managers, and fabrication teams while ensuring compliance with NASA drafting, acceptance, configuration-management, and spaceflight hardware standards.

Coordinates contract operations with program leadership, tracking activities, plans, reports, records, procurements, subcontracting, personnel, fiscal matters, travel, logistics, training, and equipment. Identifies operational issues, recommends solutions, supports process improvements, maintains stakeholder relationships, and ensures schedules, documentation, and spending align with program plans.
