Lead system safety and hazard management for NASA flight research activities. Develop safety plans, maintain hazard databases and continuous risk management, analyze reliability and maintainability, facilitate safety working groups, support design and flight readiness reviews, and present risks to NASA management and safety boards. Apply FMEA and fault tree analysis to identify and mitigate hazards affecting personnel, hardware, and mission success.

Conduct experimental aerothermodynamics research at NASA Ames using shock tubes, plasma wind tunnels, and other high-enthalpy facilities. Develop and operate optical diagnostics, spectroscopy, imaging, pyrometry, radiometry, instrumentation, and synchronized data-acquisition systems. Plan test campaigns, characterize material response, process experimental data, document procedures and uncertainties, and collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams. Analyze thermochemical non-equilibrium, radiation, and gas-surface interaction phenomena using experimental and numerical methods.

Develop and evaluate machine learning models, reproducible data pipelines, and proof-of-concept tools for NASA research projects. Translate ambiguous technical needs into ML tasks, define validation methods, analyze uncertainty and errors, and document results. Projects may involve predictive analytics, digital twins, time series, anomaly detection, NLP, computer vision, automation, and decision support. The role also supports trustworthy ML practices, technical demonstrations, and transition of prototypes to NASA mentor teams.
