Britebound Mission, Purpose & Impact
Frequently Asked Questions
Through its grantmaking process, Britebound provides support to organizations that work directly with target populations, conduct research, and advance policy change and advocacy. In early 2026, Britebound awarded $13.3 million in grants and co-investment opportunities to significantly scale access to career readiness outcomes for learners across 49 states and Puerto Rico.
In addition to grantmaking, Britebound holds panels and workshops at conferences across the United States, such as South by Southwest EDU, AMLE, and the ASU+GSV Summit. These sessions explore how to provide and increase access to work-based learning and career exploration programming for young people, how to get buy-in from school administrators and policymakers, and how to encourage employers to offer these programs.
Additionally, through its Youth Participatory Grantmaking Pilot (launched in 2025), Britebound gave high school juniors and seniors the power to direct $900,000 in real grant funding to organizations serving their peers. Over the course of the program, participants learned the ins and outs of philanthropy, reviewed grant proposals, met with nonprofit leaders, and were the decision-makers in where the funds would make the biggest impact.
Britebound's Segall Innovation Fellowship offers graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in education, public policy, social science, media and communications, or a related field the opportunity to collaborate with Britebound on a project aligned with its mission. Examples of projects Fellows can pursue include conducting innovative research on the perspectives of young people and the adults who support them, tackling complex education technology challenges, or sourcing, analyzing, and developing educational policy recommendations at the federal, state, and local levels.
Britebound is committed to helping young people discover their path through career-connected learning opportunities. While much of its work focuses on grantmaking and supporting organizations and policies aligned with its mission, Britebound also provides local high school students with opportunities to learn about careers in the nonprofit sector through its summer internship program. Participants learn the ins and outs of working in an office, contribute to meetings, offer meaningful insight, and complete projects for their respective teams, while Britebound employees serve as mentors for these learners.
Additionally, every staff member at Britebound receives eight hours of paid time off each year to volunteer and give back to their community.
