The world's largest startup competition is off to a great start with 10,000+ participants, 1,200+ teams, and 100+ cities participating over the past 2 weekends. The competition has already been narrowed down to 138 teams who are now battling each other for the title of Global StartUp Winner. WhyDeliver, a startup providing same-day delivery services for merchants, is representing Chicago in the Global Startup Battle

Team WhyDeliver is asking for the Chicago community to help make this idea a reality by voting for them daily here: bit.ly/whydeliver
Voting ends November 27th, 2012.

WhyDeliver took first place out of 20 teams at the Startup Weekend Chicago event last weekend at 1871, a co-working center for digital startups located in the famed Merchandise Mart. The event was sponsored by well known organizations such as Built in Chicago and Excelerate Labs.

Co-Founder Jimmy Odom couldn't have been prouder of his team's accomplishments stating, "With a team comprised of student representatives from The Starter League, Mobile Makers, and even a researcher from the University of Chicago it seemed hard to not produce something great. Our team represents a new wave of talent being cultivated by the startup scene in Chicago."

Co-Founder Shreyas Gosalia reflected on the winning idea saying, "Winning this competition will allow us to give that business back to the neoghborhood merchants, help spark local economy, and provide much needed jobs for Chicagoans."

About Start-Up Weekend
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2011. All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback
