There is a lot that has changed since my last blog post. American Roomies is now Roomaloo! After months of research, building, and tweaking, we evolved our mission to focus on revolutionizing the way people find their roommates and living spaces.
When we first started American Roomies at the end of 2011, we were focused on fixing the problem of internationals finding housing situations in the states. As we kept building the service, we realized that finding a great roommate and place to live was a problem for most people, not just internationals.
The new venture, Roomaloo, is a completely FREE and easy resource for people to use to find roommates, rooms, and even their own places. If you need to list a space for rent (room, apartment, house, etc.), you can list one or multiple spaces on Roomaloo for Free as well.
We will utilize a whole array of information to create the most desirable living situation possible for our users. Facebook integration will use location and friend data to further the search for the perfect pairing. Compatibility with roommates will be acheived by optional questions with a unique weighting system on important roommate categories such as hygiene, lifestyle, etc. Our unique features along with a great design will make the experience safer, easier, and more enjoyable for users.
