In an effort to discount or waive data transfer (also known as bandwidth) fees for shared customers, San Francisco-based Internet performance company Cloudflare launched the Bandwidth Alliance with 10 partners in late 2018.
The company announced this week that Tencent Cloud is joining the Bandwidth Alliance and as a result, joint customers of Cloudflare and Tencent Cloud will pay zero data transfer fees for all traffic between their networks outside of China. Tencent Cloud is the 18th partner to join the Bandwidth Alliance.

Cloudflare touts Tencent Cloud’s global presence and decades of experience in delivering digital engagement as a boon to the Bandwidth Alliance. In addition to its extensive presence in China, Tencent Cloud also had a foothold across the gaming and media industries in key regions such as Silicon Valley, Frankfurt, Singapore and Bangkok, in addition to its extensive presence in China. This partnership support both Cloudflare and Tencent Cloud’s plans to expand in this space on an international level.
