Techstars top accelerator for funding

A new report from investment analysis firm CB Insights determined Boulder-based Techstars is the top accelerator for funding, based on the percentage of companies that receive funding after the program. The study determined 48 percent of Techstars companies raise a minimum of $750,000 before the end of their first year out of the program. [Denver Business Journal]

Boulder has a significant open supply of software jobs, according to a report from ACT, The App Association. The report reveals there are around 460 software development openings in the city; based on the average developer salary, that means $50 million in income hangs in the balance at companies struggling to hire developers. Cannabase acquired by security firm Helix TCS

Online wholesale marijuana marketplace Cannabase was acquired this week by Greenwood Village-based Helix TCS. Helix TCS (OTC PINK: HLIX) supports the Colorado cannabis industry with compliance software, banking solutions and security services, including subcontracting armed guards. Cannabase will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Helix TCS; the partnership is expected to help reduce risk associated with the industry, including with transport of product. RefactorU launches diversity scholarship program

Boulder-based coding bootcamp RefactorU announced the launch of their diversity scholarship program this week. The program offers 27 scholarships to women and other underrepresented groups in STEM. The competitive scholarships ask applicants to submit an essay and personal statement, which will be judged by a community panel on metrics like problem solving ability and passion for coding. [Press release]
