Seattle-area company Starfish Space recently secured over $100 million in a Series B funding round for its in-orbit satellite servicing business. Point72 Ventures led the round that enables Starfish to execute contracted missions with its servicing vehicle, Otter.

The company has launched several Otter missions to date to provide life-extension maintenance on geostationary satellites and dispose of low Earth orbit satellites. Starfish has contracts with organizations including the U.S. Space Force and NASA as it continues to gain technical and commercial traction.

“Closing this round reflects the real momentum we are seeing across both our technology and our customer base,” Austin Link, Starfish Space’s co-founder, said in a statement. “We have Otter missions under contract, successful demos and our first operational mission launching this year. We’re ready to help organizations get the most out of their on-orbit infrastructure.”

Alongside launching more Otter missions, Starfish plans to invest its Series B capital in scaling the Otter business line amid increased demand and expanding its engineering team.
