Singapore is getting a new AI lab, which will open in 2025. HCLTech, a global consulting company headquartered near Delhi, is the company behind the lab’s development. The proposed Singapore launch will be the fifth location in the company’s AI labs network.
The AI/Cloud Native Lab will support businesses and local clients in integrating HCLTech’s AI and generative AI offerings into their day-to-day operations. According to the company, those offerings can modernize data while providing business insights, and are used by clients in industries ranging from pharmaceutical manufacturing to quick-service restaurants. Additionally, HCLTech will partner with Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic to advance domestic AI education and training.
“Our Labs are a conducive starting point for enterprises that want to embark on a collaborative journey to develop blueprints for AI and GenAI-led efficiencies,” said Vijay Guntur, HCLTech’s chief technology officer, in the announcement. “We are very excited to add Singapore to our network, which will go a long way in further strengthening Singapore’s position as a regional hub for AI innovation.”
HCLTech’s investment in Singapore follows a rising trend in Southeast Asia for AI and data infrastructure investments. In recent months, the region has seen increased activity from tech giants, including Google’s $1 billion investment to build data centers in Thailand and Oracle’s $6.5 billion contribution for a similar project in Malaysia.
