NYC companies dominate Inc. 5000

More than 160 NYC-based companies made it onto this year's Inc. 5000. Compiled annually, the report ranks the fastest-growing private companies in the country by revenue growth, and includes information on total revenue, employee count and the previous years companies have appeared on the list. About half of the NYC companies listed fall into the IT and software categories. [Inc.]

 

Options Technology raises $100M to drive growth

Fintech company Options Technology raised $100 million from private equity firm Bregal Sagemount. The investment will be put toward growing the platform as well as the company’s reach in financial centers around the world. Options was founded in 1993 and has been growing rapidly in recent years. Happify Health raises $9M to make wellness more accessible

Emotional healthcare and technology have joined forces in the form of Happify Health, a platform that provides activities and programs to help those suffering from depression, anxiety and stress. Data management startup MongoDB files for IPO

MongoDB, a data management company that helps companies be more agile and scalable, recently filed for an IPO. Like many other private companies, the startup filed confidentially. Doing so allows it to withhold its financials until 15 days prior to the investor roadshow. MongoDB plans to go public by the end of 2017. [TechCrunch]

 

Chariot launches in NYC to connect residents in ‘transit deserts’

Ford’s shuttle service Chariot launched in NYC this week. It currently has two pre-planned service routes: Lower East Side to Midtown and Greenpoint to Dumbo. Residents in these so-called “transit deserts” now have the opportunity to reserve a seat and pay a flat fee of $4. [Built In NYC]

 

Genesis Media merges with adtech company Altitude Digital

NYC-based Genesis Media and Denver-based Altitude Digital announced a merger. The company will operate under the name Genesis Media, and will keep — and grow — its Denver location. This move will help the company provide better video advertising solutions to its clients. [Press release]
