While New York City has long been a cultural epicenter and hotspot for innovation, in recent years it has become one of the leading tech industry hubs in the country.
In a 2022 survey conducted by Embold Research, 55 percent of respondents said that the industry will be important to the city’s economy in the future. Sixty percent indicated a desire for the city to attract more tech companies.
As applicants explore the wealth of opportunities in NYC, they are targeting companies that offer generous compensation and benefits, greater flexibility and a healthy work-life balance. These three priorities, the Embold Research survey noted, are the driving factors behind securing the ideal position.
As the city’s tech industry continues to expand and post new roles, Built In NYC is highlighting nine local companies and the details that matter — the problems they’re solving, the enviable perks, the company culture and more.

In the news: Food and Wine Magazine named BentoBox as one of 16 Game Changers in 2022. “Even though the world has changed so much, and technology has changed, and restaurants have evolved, the spirit of what restaurants want to do, whether they’re a small mom-and-pop or a food truck or a Michelin-starred restaurant, is just to take care of people and provide a great experience,” CEO Krystle Mobayeni told the magazine.

Thoughtful leaders: Built In NYC spoke to Brent Meyer, chief design manager at Maisonette, about his approach to task delegation and effective communication. “I like to talk through new work with junior designers in order to field questions, point out potentially complicated areas, and reference existing examples that may be useful,” Meyer said.
