I Heart Nonprofits

Here at BigMarker, we are proud of the diverse Community of people that can be found on the site. Nonprofits, educators, and businesses are just some of the demographics represented on the site, using it as a place of both community and collaboration. Because we represent such a wide range of users, we'd like to use the blog to focus in from time to time on these different topics, to reflect, ultimately, what BigMarker is about.

To start, we are kicking off with a blog focused on the nonprofit sector, so here are just a few of the tools that nonprofits can use in their pursuit of doing good.

Nonprofit Resource 1: Selfish Giving

Selfish Giving Blog

A Cause Marketer’s Musings on Doing Well & Good

TYPE OF RESOURCE: Blog

This nonprofit resource is a blog run by veteran cause marketer Joe Waters. Waters uses his blog to share the tools and skills he utilizes in cause marketing. His blog posts run the gamut from QR codes to fundraisers on Pinterest, mainly providing helpful suggestions such as: avoid placing a donation canister in a place where it will compete with a tip jar—it won’t stay there for long.

 Nonprofit Resource 2: Nonprofit Guides

Grant-Writing Tools for Nonprofit Organizations

TYPE OF RESOURCE: Reference

Although I’ve worked at my share of nonprofits, I haven’t had much exposure to writing grant proposals. For those of you who are grant newbies like me, I combine the robust resources on Nonprofit Guides with this Grant Proposal Checklist to fill in the gaps in my knowledge base.

Nonprofit Resource 3: BigMarker’s Free Public Video Conferencing

Host a Ticketed Conference as a Fundraiser

TYPE OF RESOURCE: Fundraising

BigMarker is your newest nonprofit resource. Create a public Conference to boost awareness for your cause, and easily turn it into a fundraiser by selling tickets to the event. I personally love social media, but there truly is nothing like getting the chance to speak with someone, face-to-face, to get a feel for an organization and get my questions answered. Use a live and interactive event to feature experts of your cause, success stories of your mission, or simply to connect with your member base in a more personal, meaningful way.

Haven't made it to a Conference yet? Give the Conference room a go here.

I know this is only the very tip of the iceberg, so what other resources are you using? Which sites are your tried and true companions?
