New CEO Nominated to Lead Ahold Delhaize USA

Claire Peters, who will step into the executive role later this year, has served in leadership positions for grocery, consumer and retail businesses across four continents throughout her career.

Claire Peters will join Ahold Delhaize USA, a division of global supermarket and e-commerce company Ahold Dehaize, as its new CEO beginning Sept. 8. The Supervisory Board for Ahold Delhaize nominated Peters to the executive position and appointed her to serve as a member of the Management Board, which is still subject to shareholder and regulatory approval.

Ahold Delhaize USA is one of the largest grocery retail groups in the country, operating brands based throughout the East Coast that serve millions of customers every week. Peters brings three decades of expertise across grocery, consumer and retail businesses to the company and has established a reputation for building high-performing teams, driving technology transformation and enabling growth by fostering customer trust.

Peters has worked in various international markets and most recently served as vice president for Worldwide Fresh at Amazon, overseeing North American and international business operations. Peters’ background also includes executive positions at Australia-based Woolworths Group and leadership roles in the U.K. and Thailand for Tesco.
