Happy Friday!  We're looking for some help from you to win community funds from the Starbucks #votegivegrow programs to support our programs and services.  If you haven't heard of Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), we're a non-profit that utilizes entrepreneurship principles to teach students and integrate learning with real-life applications.  Students also participate in our business plan competitions, developing ideas, creating a business plan, and then competing for venture grants to launch their businesses.  We've had an incredible amount of success and support from you, and our students have excelled because of the community's support.

That's why we need your help today, and next week, to vote for us at https://www.votegivegrow.com.  Starbucks has created a community grant fund where organizations can receive funds based on the overall number of votes.  All you have to do is go to https://www.votegivegrow.com, register your card (and/or create an account if you haven't already), sign-in, and vote for NFTE Chicago.  It's that easy!

About NFTE & Opportunities to get involved:

The mission of NFTE is to provide an entrepreneurship education program for youth from low-income communities. The NFTE programs is delivered in a year-long school day class, in low-income community schools, that focuses on students becoming skilled in core subject areas - reading, writing and mathematics - while learning core business and financial lessons.  Programs are rigorous, experiential, and vital to students’ futures. The culminating experience of the NFTE program involves the student creation of an original business plan.  At the end of the course, the students have a chance to compete for seed capital through a series of business plan competitions, from their classroom, to Chicago Citywide, to NFTE’s national competition held in New York City.  By learning about business and entrepreneurship, we are exposing our students to their roles in a market economy, the steps to operating a business, and creating within them an entrepreneurial mindset as they continue with their academic and professional goals.

The majority of our volunteers provide the tools that students need to connect their classroom learning to real-world experiences. Volunteers act as guest speakers, business plan coaches, business plan competition judges, and field trip hosts to local businesses.  By lending your talent and time, you can present new perspectives on the NFTE curriculum to students. Your efforts will have a direct and lasting influence on the personal and professional successes of our young people.  We have several exciting volunteer opportunities available that range from one-hour to several and additional opportunities for you to follow a class through a variety of volunteer activities throughout the school year. With over 75 classes in 30 program sites, we are sure that we can find a classroom that fits your schedule.
