Don't give them the wrong impression that some texts are linked when in fact they are not. That can annoy visitors and waste their time also.

Some of websites have design like a landing page for internet marketing instead of for real visitor. Make sure that you have a contact form in your page where visitors can easily send you a message. Try to increase the opportunity for them to engage with you! Don't let them just simply give up on the idea because they don't know how to connect with you. And make sure that you respond for all queries on time as well.
Fonts and Color Scheme
You may know that the web contents are for reading, not to satiate the visual appetite. Therefore, make sure that you use fonts that are easy on the eyes. Some fonts may give that sophisticated look, but remember that not all readers are created equal. So, make sure that you use fonts that will be visually acceptable across all types of readers. Besides, make sure that your color scheme matches the mood that your website would want to create.
Music/Video
I hate to open a website that plays music suddenly. Music or video that suddenly plays when visitor open a website can be annoy them. Therefore, make sure that you give the visitor the right to control that they want. If you want to put an audio component in your website, so be it, but let your visitors make the decision to press on the "Play" button if they want to listen.

Well! This is very silly mistake. You may see some websites prefer to ask visitors to type in their contact information, like their e-mail address as authentication to access into their website. Most visitors will push the close button quickly with all website like that. Bear in mind that visitors go to your website because they are looking for some information that they need. Let them look around first, then let them decide later if they would love to subscribe to you, or register their details in your website.

Visitors want to get value information instead of a bunch of Ads from your website. Search engine also prefer to read and index unique value content for its ranking. If you put your ads all over the website, please turn it off. Spam Ads not only makes your website look cluttered, but it can also give that unprofessional feel. Animated graphics or ads that "scream" can be pretty distracting and tends to veer away the reader's attention from the content.
