Summary: Collectly’s sales team is growing fast, fueled by a collaborative culture that prioritizes alignment, celebration and shared purpose. New hires are helping shape scalable processes while building a mission-driven environment where wins are shared and work feels meaningful.

A lot has happened since George Cerny joined Collectly as vice president of sales four months ago.

During those four months, his team hired 16 new people, moved into a new office in San Francisco and celebrated a record-breaking first quarter. And according to Cerny, that’s just the beginning.

“We’re building something special at Collectly, and it’s a full team effort,” he told Built In SF.

Supported by a “scalable, repeatable sales motion,” Cerny’s team is searching for more high performers to help build and document best practices and more, all while finding the time to celebrate each other’s wins. He shared that those who join the team will benefit from a galvanizing culture — one that “turns the ‘work’ into a ‘mission.’”

Read on to see what else Cerny had to say about the company’s sales team culture and how it strengthens team members’ connection with their work.

Navigating the Nuances of Healthcare

Collectly’s AI-powered solutions are designed to help healthcare providers streamline patient billing, boost revenue and enhance patient satisfaction. The company aims to help patients across the United States more easily navigate the inefficiencies, administrative burdens and suboptimal financial experiences that plague healthcare systems.

Describe your sales team culture in one word. Why did you choose that word?

Collaborative. We’re building something special at Collectly, and it’s a full team effort. While we’ve had great success in the market already, the business ran lean and profitable for years before taking venture capital money and investing in a scalable, repeatable sales motion. We’re building a team of high performers who are all working together to build and document best practices, update processes, and have fun doing it!

What are your team’s traditions and/or growth opportunities, and how do these traditions help team members connect, evolve and stay motivated?

The CEO, vice president of customer success and CP of marketing moved up to San Francisco earlier this year, and I just joined four months ago. Since then, I’ve hired 16 people, we’ve moved offices and are growing fast! We’ve celebrated a record-breaking first quarter by cheering on the home team at a San Francisco Giants game. We had a top biller dinner at Roka Akor. The engineering team even got together for an offsite in Dubai, and we’re doing an offsite for the go-to-market team in Sonoma, California in a couple weeks.

I believe the best traditions and culture come from the team, and we’re in the process of building that. I would say we have a “history” of celebrating our wins, making the time to come together as a team to drive alignment, and making sure we have fun along the way. I’m excited for the organic and authentic traditions to emerge as we get a couple of quarters under our belt as a full team, but we’re off to a good start.

How does a strong team culture make team members feel more connected to your day-to-day work?

Culture is the magic pixie dust that amplifies the success of all the individuals working together toward a common goal. Culture makes the team feel like they’re a part of something bigger than themselves. It turns the “work” into a “mission.” Nothing is more impactful to give the day-to-day work meaning and purpose than to understand how your role helps the mission. It’s the foundation for any great company. Come be a part of building a great culture at Collectly!
