Seattle-based Kotoba Technologies, an AI company focused on Asian language translation and speech technology, announced it has raised $11.83 million in a funding round led by Globis Capital Partners and Boost Capital, with additional participation from SIP Capital and others.

Since its founding in 2023, Kotoba has focused on developing real-time AI-powered translation, moving beyond simple live transcription to true simultaneous interpretation, according to a news release. The company will use the new funding to enhance and commercialize its iOS app, DOTSU, which launched in March and offers speech-to-text simultaneous interpretation.

Kotoba is also preparing for global rollouts starting in August and plans to launch its most expressive Japanese text-to-speech models soon.
