As the city of Atlanta continues to make a name for itself within the expansive tech industry, companies big and small continue to make their way to the Peach State Capital. The latest name to beef up its presence in the Southeast’s fastest-growing tech hub is Santa Clara-based Intel. The semiconductor manufacturer is growing its local headcount across a range of tech positions.
The company’s announcement is one of the latest in a series of well-known tech companies that have been building out their team in Atlanta. Cash App recently announced plans to establish a new office in one of the city’s historic venues. Sportswear giant Nike is opening a new technology center in Midtown, and Microsoft is making moves to build out its new campus on the city’s westside.
With plans to grow its software development resources, Intel is joining the bandwagon. The company aims to help organizations move, store and process data quickly and securely. It’s working to access the full potential of data and create more capable and efficient networks, as well as more pervasive AI across smart devices, according to its website.
Intel already occupies several office spaces in Atlanta and Alpharetta, with locations at Northpoint Parkway, 3348 Peachtree Road and 999 NE Peachtree Street, as reported by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Intel is planning to add more than 100 new jobs with average salaries above $100,000, and this is part of a larger goal to add 500 jobs by 2024, according to the Chronicle.
“Intel’s Software and Advanced Technology Group is expanding its presence in Atlanta and recruiting for a range of software development roles in AI, cloud, security and more,” a company spokesperson told Built In via email. “Atlanta is well known for its thriving and diverse technology community and talent base, and we’re excited to be growing our team there.”
The company currently lists hundreds of open positions in its headquarters city. The majority of roles span engineering departments.
