GoodRx is doing what the company does best — helping connect people with resources — but during Pride month the focus is on GoodRx’s community of LGBTQIA+ employees and their allies.
Maggie Jorgenson, an employee communications and engagement manager, explained that this month, GoodRx will help employees connect and give back through volunteering and fundraising events for the Black transgender community.
“GoodRx supports LGBTQIA+ employees by creating intentional spaces for connection, visibility and community care,”Jorgenson said. And that matters for employee belonging and retention — a recent Forbes article cited a study that found three out of four employees will stay at a job long-term if the employer continues to support DEI.
Built In spoke with Jorgenson about how GoodRx supports LGBTQIA+ employees in Pride month and beyond.
GoodRx is a healthcare marketplace that provides reliable health information and prescription discounts that are accepted at more than 70,000 U.S. pharmacies.
Describe the activities your company is coordinating for Pride Month. Are there any ties with local organizations?
For Pride month, GoodRx is hosting a mix of events and engagement opportunities to help employees celebrate, connect and give back. Events include curated cocktail classes and community volunteer opportunities. We are also providing our employees with free GoodRx Pride t-shirts. GoodRx and members of the QueerRx CRG are very community-oriented, so volunteer opportunities are always at the center of our programming.
This year, in collaboration with our Black CRG, we’re partnering with The Okra Project, a mutual aid collective focused on supporting the Black Trans community and helping alleviate barriers it faces. We’re hosting a fundraiser for the organization and we’ll also be packing 150 kits with essential care and toiletry items to be distributed through their programs. For employees unable to attend in person, we are offering a DIY volunteer opportunity to distribute GoodRx Health queer health pamphlets and copay cards to local LGBTQ+ centers, libraries and other community spaces.
How does your company support and empower the LGBTQIA+ members of your team?
GoodRx supports LGBTQIA+ employees by creating intentional spaces for connection, visibility and community care. Through QueerRx, our LGBTQIA+ employee community resource group, employees have opportunities to connect with one another, share openly and build community.
We’re also building out allyship and advocacy training programs to help employees better understand how to support LGBTQIA+ colleagues in meaningful ways. In addition, we host regular safe-space meetings where employees can feel connected, supported and in community with one another. Together, these efforts help ensure LGBTQIA+ employees have spaces where they can be heard, seen and supported at GoodRx.

Beyond the month of June, what are some examples of ways your company supports or advocates for the LGBTQIA+ community?
Internally, GoodRx supports LGBTQIA+ employees through QueerRx, our LGBTQIA+ employee community resource group, which creates ongoing opportunities for connection, visibility and community care.
Externally, GoodRx also supports LGBTQIA+ communities well beyond the month of June through a dedicated LGBT+ health page. More broadly, GoodRx helps people compare prescription prices and access medication savings, which can be especially meaningful for queer folks navigating barriers to affordable or affirming healthcare.
