Today, AI is doing the same thing for research — in nearly every field.
AI allows qualitative and quantitative data to be analyzed faster while comparing different data sets. Researchers use AI to automate parts of their workflow, predict outcomes and assess potential errors before entering the peer review process.
In medical research, AI deep learning models can assess images like scans and x-rays, helping doctors arrive at diagnoses faster and with more certainty. In academic research, AI is used to surface scholarly resources and published research that might not have been found otherwise. AI can also summarize and quantify published studies and assist researchers as they conduct literary reviews in their field.
The capabilities of AI are even being tested to formulate its own hypothesis and function as the researcher.
Research platform Dscout can attest to the power of AI in research. In fact, the Chicago tech company brought together nearly a hundred of its customers to talk about exactly that. The event, called Co-Lab, brought together Dscout customers together to “discuss, learn and challenge” the risks and opportunities in AI.
The company turns this kind of open communication inward, as well. Built In Chicago spoke with one of Dscout’s senior recruiters to hear more about the culture of curiosity and empathy that are part of the ethos of the research company.

How long have you been with the company, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?
I’ve been with Dscout for two and a half years now, and during this time I have grown tremendously. I initially joined Dscout with a background in technical recruitment but a desire to learn and expand into recruiting for other business areas.
During my time here, I’ve now had the opportunity to hire for diverse roles across all internal teams at Dscout, which has been incredibly rewarding.
In addition to broadening my recruitment scope, I’ve had the privilege to support and contribute to larger people team projects and strategies. I’m very proud to be a member of our Inclusion Committee, where I contribute to and support our DEI initiatives such as our learning communities.
