Built In Chicago’s Top Companies Hiring, November 1 at 5:30 p.m.

We’re hosting a meet, greet and hire event with 12 Chicago tech companies at the Old Crow Smokehouse River North! Come chat with staff from companies including Tempus, SpotOn, Networked Insights, Arity and more about their work, culture and open positions. Is Artificial Intelligence As Intelligent As It Thinks It Is?, October 30 at 12:15 p.m.

Interested in artificial intelligence and its future potential? This event hosted by the University of Chicago Graham School features Ira Goldberg, a leading advisor for the Argonne National Laboratory Leadership Computing Facility, speaking on how human biases surrounding the technology can impact its effectiveness as well how present evidence paints a picture of what AI can be in years to come. 

 

New Approaches to Diversity and Inclusion: Building the Tech Sector We Want, October 30 at 5:30 p.m.

ThoughtWorks is hosting an event at their office dedicated to boosting diversity and inclusivity for women of color in the tech space. Three women with extensive backgrounds in fostering diversity within the industry will share their insights: Change Catalyst CEO Melinda Epler, ThoughtWorks Head of Diversity and Inclusion for North America Tarsha McCormick and President and HWLF CEO and Technically Human President and Founder Kyla Williams.

 

St. Jude Harvest Moon, November 2 at 8 p.m.

St. Jude Young Professionals of Chicago is hosting its 17th annual networking and social event to support the fight against childhood cancer. Tunes will be provided by a live band and food will be courtesy of sponsors including Portillo’s, STK Chicago, Famous Dave’s, OG’s Social and more. There will also be a speech from a St. Jude patient, a silent auction and raffles.

 

DESIGNATHON, November 3 at 8 a.m.

The Design Museum of Chicago, Ferrer Foundation and Eight Bit Studios are hosting a team-based design contest open to visual creatives across the city. Participants will form groups of five and spend the day collaborating to create an original work based on an assigned prompt. Projects are open-ended and can include mobile apps, ad campaigns, websites or anything else. Designers of any and all skills levels are welcome, as everyone has an impact on the final outcome.
