From its natural surroundings and burgeoning cities to its tech industry and economy, the Centennial State has a proven track record of growth in the presence of difficult circumstances.

In the aftermath of recent wildfires, citizens set about planting nearly 11,000 seedlings in 2022, assisted by Restoring Colorado’s Forest Fund. Meanwhile, over 25,000 acres fell under new or revised forest stewardship plans, ensuring the state’s majestic beauty remains.

In the technology sector, which has been marred by economic uncertainty and mass layoffs in recent months, Colorado has nurtured a similarly positive outcome. In 2022, the industry grew at a rate of 4.8 percent compared to a national average of 3.2 percent.

Furthermore, the state is forecasted to achieve the highest national increase in tech employment in 2023, with an estimated 8,960 net increase in jobs.

These positive trends are not without caveats, but Coloradans have remained unified in facing all kinds of challenges head-on. At Scaled Agile and Motili, two Colorado-based tech companies, a spirit of and dedication to growth and progress hold steady.

Built In Colorado shared the recent, must-know details about how these companies invest in team members and foster connections.

What Scaled Agile does: Scaled Agile’s SAFe provides a framework for enterprise agility that helps organizations improve systems, foster employee engagement and reach business goals.

Positive candidate experiences: At Scaled Agile, the hiring process is as much about the interviewee as it is about the interviewer. “No matter the employment market, candidates deserve an efficient, transparent and equitable hiring process,” Senior Talent Acquisition Partner Tania McEvoy previously told Built In Colorado. “We treat the interview process as a mutual assessment process.”

A focus on advancement: In May, Built In Colorado spoke to Chief Customer Officer Nikki Hembury about how the company prioritizes mentorship and continued education. “At Scaled Agile, we foster a learning culture where everyone is encouraged to discuss their development goals and create a plan with their manager — regardless of their position,” she said.

Upward mobility: As a company that hires from within, Motili ensures that employees are provided with significant growth opportunities. “Anyone who joins Motili not only has tremendous opportunities within the company but also gains skills to advance their long-term career,” said CEO Karl Pomeroy.

Prioritizing connection: At Motili, relationships with customers are at the heart of day-to-day work. “Personal connections facilitate smoother business conversations, sharper expectations and more safety nets for when things go differently than planned,” said VP of National Accounts Matthew Sallee in a previous interview with Built In Colorado. “Meaningful connections pave a pathway for more emotional and fulfilling business relationships.”
