Breaking Out of Obedience...and Why Reading Seth Godin Is Like Taking the Red Pill

It's safe to say that just about every book and/or manifesto Seth Godin puts out to the masses manages to make me feel like the laziest human on earth.

Yet, I keep reading!

Godin's latest manifesto, Stop Stealing Dreams, is one that I'd recommend to any student, startup addict, teacher, parent, or anyone with a brain (hint hint: the message applies to all of us)

Godin talks about the creation of public school way back when and how it was designed to create obedient workers that would be able to work jobs in the newly industrialized America.  Go to work, be on time, put some parts on the conveyer belt, obey your superior, clock out, and go home.

We've been trained all of our lives to be obedient. To draw within the lines.  Even though the economy has drastically changed over the past 100 years, the methods of teaching and learning are largely the same.

But it's time to break free.  I'm nearly halfway done with Stop Stealing Dreams and would highly recommend it.  It's giving me that motivational kick that I need every now and then.  If anyone else reads it, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
