As the largest publicly funded healthcare service in the world, the country believes the National Health Service, or NHS, will benefit greatly from innovations in the health sector. As such, it’s creating new incentives to entice private companies in the space. These are some of the top biotech companies to know about as the country continues to invest in its health system.

Novo Nordisk is a biotechnology company developing treatments and solutions for diabetes and other chronic diseases. The company is a leader in discovering and using protein treatments for its therapies, and it has previously developed treatments using gene editing and RNA interface techniques. The company follows a rigorous testing phase for its treatments.   

 

Takeda is a global biotech company developing medical treatments in many fields. The company is known for working with local regulatory agencies to develop products to cure rare diseases and conditions related to neuroscience, oncology and gastroenterology, among other medical areas.  

 

Oxford-based Refeyn develops mass photometry tools to monitor molecules. Its products can weigh individual molecules and unlock analytical insights like structural composition and biomolecule dynamics.

 

Endpoint Clinical makes interactive response technology products for the life sciences industry. IRT tools and platforms work by managing logistics for the patient-participant and drug supply sides of clinical trials for medications, medical devices and other biotech products. With its wearable device called Nettle, people experiencing menstrual pain may alleviate symptoms by receiving transcranial direct current stimulation to specific regions of the brain. LabGenius is a London-based biotechnology company that uses AI and machine learning to develop protein therapeutics. Using its evolution engine, the company has an accelerated development approach that enables it to discover antibodies and predict their effectiveness.
