DreamJobbing, a brand new Austin startup with a novel approach to job ads and recruitment largely inspired by reality TV, has already raised $550,000 in venture capital from undisclosed investors.

The platform was launched in October by Burton Roberts, Alex Boylan, and Lisa Hennessy, each of whom has many years of experience in the entertainment industry and the high-powered Los Angeles connections to prove it. That's how DreamJobbing offers such highly coveted opportunities in showbiz, media, travel, and beyond. Users bid on jobs by submitting videos, which are voted on by the community. The company has a video distribution deal with AXS TV for 2015 – MGM will handle international distribution.

“In a very short time, we have been able to build a company that is very compelling to both clients and investors,” said co-founder Burton Roberts. “Our business plan was built around providing a turnkey marketing solution with a lot of value and a high ROI that customers would be willing to pay for. We have been able to validate this business model by showing a demand for our services through successful campaigns for VH1, CBS, Nitro Circus, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, with many more Dream Jobs to come.”

Work-related inspiration has been big business for DreamJobbing, thanks in no small part to its highly visible supporters. It recently introduced “DreamJobbing With...,” a hosted video series wherein artists, celebrities, and executives share their success stories.

“With a successful launch under our belts now, we are already looking ahead to Phase Two and further to continue to build our business and brand,” Roberts said. “Austin is such a great city to be working in because just like DreamJobbing, it has so many strong communities including tech, production, and marketing. As we continue to grow, we will be working closely with numerous companies in the area from all of these communities.”
