We specialize in smart coating solutions that make products water resistant. Most electronics in the world today are vulnerable to water damage. Accidental water damage, condensation and humidity can short out or corrode and often ruin the circuitry of safety critical Automotive Electronics (Autopilot, Power Steering etc.) , cell phones, laptops, e-readers, digital cameras, electronic key fobs, television remotes, coffee makers, and many other devices that are often used in the proximity of water, other liquids, and even simply humidity. While some electronic devices are built and labeled as “water resistant,” they are comparatively few in number, and they often feature water-tight external enclosures that house the electronic components inside. actnano has a number of nano coatings that can be applied to electronic devices in a way that makes them water-resistant to IPx7 levels. In other words, a cell phone or notebook computer will work just fine after being dropped in a bucket of water. actnano coatings can also be found in a number of production vehicles in the market today. The coatings can be applied to devices in various stages of the manufacturing process, including after the finished product is built.

Modumetal® is a new class of materials that represents a disruptive change in both the performance and manufacturing efficiency of advanced materials. Modumetal is addressing the limitations of current metals in corrosion, wear, fatigue and weight. The market for Modumetal materials exceeds $2 trillion worldwide. Modumetal is a layered alloy, similar in structure to plywood, but comprising layers that are on the order of nanometers in thickness. Modumetals are superior in mechanical, corrosion, wear and thermal performance, but are comparable in cost to conventional non-layered metals. Nanolayered alloys cannot be produced by conventional heat-based metallurgical processes. Modumetal is produced by a patented, sustainable manufacturing process that uses electricity as the direct input form of energy and enables the production of the nano-layered materials at an industrial scale and a competitive price. The Modumetal process represents a major shift in the way metals are manufactured. It affords inherent efficiencies in end part manufacturing and reduces demand for metal raw materials.

Based in Waterloo, Ontario and Scottsdale, Arizona, Ambature, Inc. is the world leader in a-axis high-temperature superconducting technology. We design superconducting materials and quantum devices to power an innovative, sustainable future. Nearly half of Ambature’s intellectual property portfolio is dedicated to computing and sensing, while the other half is dedicated to clean energy—the generation, transmission and storage of electricity. Our unique materials and scalable device architectures enable two important shifts in the advanced chips industry: mass production and higher operating temperatures of superconducting devices. If the transistor is the most fundamental semiconductor device, then the Josephson junction (JJ) is the most fundamental superconductor device. JJs are building blocks for sensors, quantum computers, and high-performance or energy-efficient classical computers. Our JJs can be manufactured at scale in any major foundry in the world using standard silicon fabrication equipment. Semiconductors conduct electricity with some resistance. Resistance generates heat in wires, batteries, antennas, smartphones, computers, etc. Heat is the major barrier to advancements in semiconductor power, speed, density, efficiency, and reliability. Our materials address the heat problem because superconductors conduct electricity without resistance. Superconductors typically operate at very cold temperatures, but Ambature’s roots are in research towards room temperature superconductivity. There are low-temperature superconductors (LTS) and high-temperature superconductors (HTS). HTS devices reduce cooling power consumption and coolant costs by an order of magnitude. Ambature’s a-axis HTS JJs will be the first commercially available, mass produced HTS tunnel junctions. They are viable because we have overcome historical technological barriers by mastering a-axis rather than conventional c-axis epitaxial growth.
