Summary
Coordinates and implements communication programs, initiatives, and campaigns that align with Northwestern Mutual's strategic corporate communication priorities. These activities inform, educate, and influence target audiences including the company's employees, the field, and other stakeholders.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Intakes communication requests and manages editorial calendar.
- Consults with various business areas on communication strategy and channel best practices, edits content, and provides recommendations to maximize engagement.
- Plans, manages and implements communication programs, projects and initiatives that align employees with department direction and strategic priorities.
- Leads committees and task forces in developing communication initiatives that support the department business direction, goals and objectives. Works on increasingly complex programs, initiatives, and campaigns that are already established with some degree of planning complexity and scope.
- May provide informal guidance to more junior team members, delegate/edit assignments such as writing communication pieces, developing content for presentations, etc.
- Identifies metrics to measure the effectiveness of communication and asses the return on communication investment.
- Recommends, develops, implements and maintains communication standards for department. Assures that quality standards are present in departmental communications.
- Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 or more years of experience in professional communication, public relations, organizational communication, marketing or related communication field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to absorb information and convert to an understandable format.
- Ability to build rapport, negotiate with and gain acceptance at all levels.
- Ability to solve problems and analyze possible solutions to make business decisions.

Pay Range - Start:
$51,170.00
Pay Range - End:
$95,030.00
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
