The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Northeast Regional Sales Manager in our CardioMetabolic and Informatics (CMI) business. This role covers the Northeast and is ideally based in NY, NY, CT or possibly Boston. Covers VA north to Maine, over to Ohio. This role reports to the GM, US Commercial Cardiometabolic. This position will establish and achieve sales goals and objectives in specified markets and geographical territories in support of the Cardiometabolic (CM) business unit's (BU) overall strategic plan. The scope of this position includes management of Cardiometabolic Account Executives and dotted line management of Technical Consultants, coordination of sales activities with distribution partner(s) and regular communication with other departments, including Marketing, Contracts & Pricing, Finance, and Training and Development.

What you'll do

Plan, coordinate and manage the sales activities of the CM Account Executives to achieve sales goals of the Company.

Collaborate with Technical Consultant Manager to manage the activities of regional Technical Consultants to achieve the commercial goals of the BU.

  • Travel and provide feedback in the field with CM field team members for a minimum of three days per week.
  • Train and develop sales team to understand customer needs, to identify sales opportunities and to effectively represent Abbott and CMI products in the marketplace as well as negotiate deals, pricing, and customer contract terms to meet the revenue and margin goals of the BU.
  • Manage the performance of the CM sales team to meet individual, department and Company sales goals and objectives including feedback on performance appraisals, recommendations for merit increases, career counseling, etc.
  • Manage sales team CRM activities including funnel creation and management.
  • Identify and recruit direct sales professionals.
  • Direct the field implementation of Company sales, marketing, training, corporate account programs and other strategic initiatives.
  • Meet established sales goals and objectives while maintaining sales budget.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage the sales performance of the Company's CM distributor sales force(s). Act as primary contact for the CM distributor's sales and operations management team(s).
  • Act as a resource for contract negotiation, pricing, proposal, bid preparation, customer service and customer follow-up.
  • Identify customer issues and resolve sales related difficulties.
  • Assist in the formulation of strategic sales plans and tactics, including annual and five-year plans.
  • Assist in the development and management of annual CM sales budget.
  • Provide regular sales reports, forecasts and communication with sales and marketing management.
  • Participate in quarterly business reviews with senior management and oversee regular territory business reviews with Account Executives.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain the business and client relationship with key national and regional accounts.
  • Support sales management peers through active sharing of ideas, techniques, and approaches.
  • Manages performance of staff towards department and Company goals, including feedback on performance, appraisals, recommendations for merit increases or necessary disciplinary actions, communication to employees on performance, etc.

Required

  • BA/BS/BBA with preferred concentration in sales, marketing, nursing, medical technology, or business.
  • 8+ years of successful sales experience.
  • 5+ years' experience managing field sales team.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic selling methods in the clinical market.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated ability in the successful execution of sales strategies.
  • Proven track record of sales performance and success.
  • Travel 50-75% of time including overnights, car and air travel
  • Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must meet vendor credentialing requirements; ability to work in physician and hospital settings
  • Diagnostics experience preferred
  • High performer with "can-do" attitude
  • Ability to evolve within changing organization
  • Ability to adopt new processes and policies
  • Proficient computer skills; MS Office

The base pay for this position is

$102,700.00 - $205,300.00
